Sooner Success Tulsa/Rogers counties and Kirk Community Partners hosting “Fall Family Fun and Resource Fair”

October 14, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Children with a variety of special needs are often overlooked when it comes to summer camps, play days and other children’s events. But Sooner Success and Kirk Community of Friends are making sure this doesn’t happen to children they know and work with. The groups are organizing a “Fall Family Fun and Resource Fair.” The event is set for 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Oct. 14 at Kirk of the Hills in Tulsa, 4102 E 61st Street.

This is a community event for families of special needs children. These special needs can be medical, behavior or physical, and young adults with developmental disabilities are also encouraged to attend. The goal is to bring children of all ages and abilities to spend one day creating acceptance and having fun.

There will be a variety of activities including: train rides, fire trucks, bounce houses, obstacle course, Bible stories, crafts, live animals, lunch, games and prizes.

“We want this to be a community event that supports families with special needs children. It is a celebration of their unique needs, and a day for them and their family to have fun and focus on their child with special needs,” said Tonda Ames, Sooner Success Tulsa/Rogers county coordinator.

The partners of the event are seeking vendors and organizations to have interactive, hands-on activities for the day. There is no cost to have a booth. They are stressing it is a celebration and vendors will be allowed to have a booth with an activity for special needs children.

Activities are free, but families must register to ensure the event has enough food and free pumpkins. To register, or for more information or to add your name to the list of organizations hosting a booth with an activity, please contact Crystal Fulda at: cfulda@thekirk.com
