Down Syndrome Festival & 5K

Event date: 10/5/2019 Export event

The Festival & 5K is the major, annual fundraising event for the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma.  Funds raised help the organization accomplish its goals through programs such as microwave-based cooking classes for teens and adults with Down syndrome, a computer lab and tutoring center, distribution of new parent packets, quarterly workshops, parent to parent support meetings and scholarships to the National Down Syndrome Congress annual convention. All money raised stays in the central Oklahoma area to fund the various activities and programs supported by DSACO.

The DSACO Down Syndrome Festival & 5K will be held on October 5th, 2019, at the Myriad Gardens. This year is our 25th walk to bring awareness to the 21st chromosome! The day begins each year with a 5K at 8 a.m. The 5K is followed by an Awareness Walk around the Myriad Gardens where family teams walk in celebration of their loved ones with Down syndrome. The final event of the day is the Festival, held on the Great Lawn and Sheridan Lawn north of the Crystal Bridge. The Festival is free and open to the public, and includes a petting zoo, carnival games, moon bounces, face painting and more.
