The curriculum used comes from the train-the-trainer curriculum designed to build capacity across the state. FEAT was originally created with funding from the Kansas Division of Health Care Finance using Medicaid Infrastructure Grant monies in 2010 through 2012. In 2013-2017, Dr. Judith Gross was awarded a NIDILRR Field Initiated grant, Assessing Family Employment Awareness Training, to conduct a quasi-experimental study to research the effectiveness of FEAT. There are currently 5 states: Kansas, Rhode Island, Nebraska, Indiana, and Oklahoma providing this curriculum.
Oklahoma's FEAT project is provided and funded by the Developmental Disabilities Council of Oklahoma, supported in part by grant numbers 2001OKSCDD, 2101OKSCDD, and/or 2201OKSCDD from the US Administration for Community Living, Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, D.C. 20201. Grantees undertaking projects with government sponsorship are encouraged to express freely their findings and conclusions. Points of view or opinions do not, therefore, necessarily represent official ACL policy.
