Major County Community Coalition (MCCC)

Date/time of meeting:

Third Tuesday of each month from 12 pm to 1 pm

Mission Statement or primary goal of coalition:

The mission of MCCC shall be to improve the quality of life for children and youth with special needs and their families through coordination of community services, resources, and education. In partnership with the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust our expanded mission also includes the improvement of health and quality of life to all Oklahomans through accountable programs and services that address the hazards of tobacco use and other health issues.

This group includes monthly reports from the following groups and/or grant funded projects:

Turning Point, OSU Extension, Department of Human Services, TSET/Northwest Family Services, School Health Activities, Health Department Updates, Oklahoma Health Care Authority, Oklahoma Family Network/Children's Behavioral Health Network, Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitaion services

Past coalition projects, awards, highlights and/or accomplishments:

Providing disability awareness activities during county wide 4th grade farm day.

Providing free dental care at county schools through the mobile dental van in partnership with the Oklahoma Dental Foundation.

Initiating the Backpacks for Kids program in Major County to help provide food for chronically hungry children.

Creating the Summer Food for Kids program to help chronically hungry children during the school summer break.

Providing grant funding to help staff the Mission Mentors program.

Current areas of need the group is working on:

Summer Food for Kids Program-volunteer, by donation program to feed chronically hungry kids in Major County that have been identified thru the local school systems. We are always looking for additional funding sources to help grow the program to meet the needs of our community.
