Want to have your child without special needs learn and be around others just like him or her who have a sibling with a special need? If so, make plans to attend the Feb. 11 Rogers County Sibshops in Claremore, from 10 a.m. - noon.

Led by Rogers County OSU Extenstion Family and Consumer Sciences educator, Sibshops is a time for your child without special needs to focus on them, have fun and learn ways to cope with their feelings. Dealing with a sibling can be one of the most annoying aspects of childhood.  However, it canalso lead to one of the most rewarding and influential relationships of our lives.

Sibshops is a program designed to provide peer support and education within a recreational setting for children ages 5-13 who have a sibling with a special need. This months' activities will revolve around the Valentine's Day theme. Penny is also a trained yoga instructor and provides yoga for young children. Past activities have included the appearance of Jerzy the Courthouse Dog and the Rogers County Sheriff's Office Mounted Patrol. This is a free program, and light snacks are provided.
