Sooner Success hosting Quarterly “On the Road” Dec. 6

Published: Thursday, October 18, 2018

Families and professionals who live and work with children with disabilities realize the road to navigating services can be difficult. There are multiple agencies and organizations to coordinate services, but sometimes finding the answers can take some time. That’s why Sooner Success Tulsa and Rogers Counties and Tulsa Technology Center are collaborating to present “On the Road and Transition Services”. The evening event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m., Dec. 6, at the Tulsa Tech Lemley Campus Health Sciences Center Building on Memorial, room 3117.

Several state agencies and local organizations will be present to share their information on how they can assist those who are attending who have a child with special needs. This will be a panelist format with each of the agencies describing their role in providing services to children with disabilities followed by questions from the audience.

“It is our hope that this format will allow for more dialogue and questions answered right there on the spot,” said Tonda Ames, Rogers and Tulsa county coordinator for Sooner Success. “Information will be shared about and from several organizations and state agencies that are frequently involved with families of children with special needs. We are thrilled that this many state agencies and organizations can come together in one location to hopefully provide answers to questions many people may have.”

Scheduled to attend are: Sooner Success, Oklahoma Department of Human Services Developmental Disability Services, Oklahoma Parents Center,  Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitative Services: Transition Services and Benefits Planning, Tulsa Public Schools Autism Instructional Coach Michelle Wilkerson, Oklahoma ABLE Tech, Oklahoma Disability Law Center, Oklahoma Epilepsy Foundation and Tulsa Technology Center.

The event is free, but registration is required and must be completed by Dec. 4. Registration can be made by calling: 918-828-5000. A light meal will be provided thanks to a partnership with the Oklahoma Epilepsy Foundation. For more information please contact: Tonda-ames@ouhsc.edu
