Oklahoma Sibling Leadership Network

OKSIBS is a recognized chapter of the Sibling Leadership Network

Sooner SUCCESS launched OKSIBS in 2017 and is now an official recognized chapter of (SLN) - www.siblingleadership.org.  SLN is a national nonprofit based out of Chicago, IL and is dedicated to providing support and information to siblings of people with disabilities across the lifespan. 

This program is for adult siblings that have grown up with a brother or sister with special needs.  We are currently looking for adult siblings to get together with other adult siblings in a relaxed social environment.  If you are interested to learn more, please contact sooner-success@ouhsc.edu.

50 families with special needs children are being photographed for free

"The Inclusion Project" creating acceptance and bringing awareness to special needs families.

NOTE: Kathleen and Kyle B Photography in Claremore is photographing families with special needs children. While her free sessions are already booked, you can view this beautiful photography and notes from mothers of the children on these Facebook pages: Rogers County Coalition and OUHSC Sooner Success Region 2. New pictures will be posted every Monday. Sooner Success Rogers and Tulsa counties is partnering withe Kathleen and Kyle B Photography to host a Play Day event in early September for families with special needs. The date will be announced soon.

At this time we have exactly 50 families scheduled with our "Inclusion Project" photo sessions. We are awaiting on 10 families whom have turned their paperwork in but have not scheduled so that brings our total to 60!!!

We have had several individuals come forward and make donations to purchase prints and help with some of the activities that we will have at our play day. We are also holding a Rustic Cuff Fundraiser and we will start a t-shirt fundraiser soon. We have also had several people contact me in regards to volunteering and we appreciate them SO much!!

Currently we are in need of groups and organizations to set up a booth and sponsor a fun activity for our play in September at the Claremore Community Center has graciously donated the use of the gym. So far we have the following or we have people working on the following:
Coloring station
Play-dough station
parachute play
Mavis Pearl Tutu making station
Fire Dept Clown group (from Tulsa)
Fire Safety education (from Tulsa)
Face-painting
balloon animals-Clown group
Noodle sensory pool

The Claremore Navy ROTC will be volunteering and helping we also hope to get some of Claremore High School sports teams and RSU teams. These kids will be there to help set up, play with the kids and just have fun.
We are hoping to find a mobile petting zoo if you know of one please let us know. We also have a friend working to get some therapy animals at our event.

If you have any ideas of activities that we can add to this please let us know.

Sooner SUCCESS is committed to supporting our Siblings of all ages. This initiative is specifically for our older siblings that are no longer participating in Sibshops. Members can include siblings, friends, spouses, and those that recognize the importance of supporting siblings.
